Are Lawn Lights Worth It?
Solar powered-lawn lights have become popular recently. They involve lighting along pathways or hanging from poles in front and backyards, powered by solar panels. However, according to Aikyum Solar, those lights have trouble making sense. Are they worth it? Aikyum Solar investigates.
What are their benefits?
Although they might seem silly, solar lights come with several advantages. For instance, they are easy to install. Most solar lights only need to be staked into the ground for them to ready to use. This is in contrast to lighting that needs to be properly wired and installed. In this way, solar lights make sense as they are faster to install than typical lights.
Another advantage of the majority of solar lights is their dawn-to-dusk feature. You won’t have to worry about turning them on or off, because they’ll do that themselves as the day passes to nightfall and as dawn arrives. This means there isn’t the worry of if you forget to turn them off and waste energy all through the day.
Also, their rechargeable batteries, similar to those of electric cars, mean you can save energy. Aikyum Solar likes that their solar panels can be used to charge lawn lights. The energy from the panels can be stored in batteries so it won’t be lost and can be used at night when the lights are on. They are approved of by the Department of Energy.
Are they too flimsy?
Some people say them look flimsy and don’t give bright light. However, this depends on the type of light you use. One variety of solar-powered lawn light might not emit the brightness of light you want, but another variety can. You just need to search to find what works best for you and your home. Aikyum Solar has found types of lawn lights that are sturdy and bright enough to light up an entire yard.
The most important part of lawn lights is that they save energy. All the energy that used to go to lighting your yard at night will be able to be saved for another day. An outdoor lamp might use about 100 watts, such as this lamp from Target. However, if you used solar power to light the lamp instead, you would save 100 watts.
Even though they appear strange, lawn lights overall appear to be worth it. Their easiness to install and the way they work well with solar panels make them a worthwhile addition to your yard. Aikyum Solar is happy to install solar panels for you to power them.
